This is where it all started! ~ "The Funky Raw Festival " 2004, 4th - 8th Aug, Keveral Farm Cornwall UK

I  had been pondering creating a unique raw gathering for a few years, but due to having a baby I didn't really have the inner resources to create it. By 2004 I was feeling a very strong desire to connect with like minds, and could see this web of people emerging in the raw food movement that could see the bigger picture, and how raw food related to that bigger picture. I decided that 2004 was the year to bring us all together, and with the help of my friend Chris set about the task of weaving it. I knew the festival needed to be holistic, and also needed a strong vibe of restoration. And so it was: Over 5 days we had a varied range of speakers and activities; Claire Rainbow gave us 3 talks on mediation, creating your own reality and the Rainbow prophecy, and also guided people through daily chanting, meditation and Gi gong (phew Claire, did you get time to relax! LOL); Free Cannabis gave a fantastic performance about the wonders of Cannabis Sativa; Tony Wright stimulated people with his fascinating theory on the evolution of consciousness; Rob Preston whose flexible and intensely fit body spoke for itself in his talk on creating fitness with fun, as well as in his daily exercise classes; Martine kept people feeling flexible with her ashtanga yoga classes and Holly provided us with a delicious raw food prep class. Diana and team provided mouthwatering breakfast, lunches and dinners, and crazy Chris form hemp life brought us juices with hemp milk; and last but by no means least Steve Charter brought the whole thing together with his magical talk on true sustainability and the culture of change.

The sun shone on us gloriously until the last day, and everyone enjoyed the peaceful camping in Keveral Farms orchard. On Thursday night Lisa Ceneri delighted and entertained us with her humorous poetry on the current state of humanity. And early saturday evening saw us entertained by the amazing impromptu acoustic music from Henry, will and Dave. Most of us joined together to spend the rest of the evening outside dancing and connecting to some deep funky tunes by natural rythme DJ Darren Sutton. A Keveral Farm resident took charge of the early Sat. morning session by playing some fantastic trance.

The feedback I got was fabulous and I think everyone who came had an amazing relaxed time and left having made new connections and armed with stimulating, thought provoking information.

I am very pleased to be creating another one for 2005 on the 20th to the 24th of July.
